More than 700 nominations from organizations across the Middle East and North Africa were considered. Omantel scored gold awards in two categories, both for Omantel’s innovative and groundbreaking mobile app, combining the best practices in online customer service, fully online onboarding process, exceptional customer experience, artificial intelligence digital assistant (Noor) and the chat system working around the clock. The awarded app was co-developed in a strategic partnership by TUATARA and OMANTEL’s digital team.
The idea
The idea of providing the mobile app with a simplified online onboarding process emerged shortly before the launch of eSIM in Oman. Omantel was the first telecommunications provider in Oman to offer its customers the option to order and activate an eSIM online. However, the main trigger for developing a unique online onboarding process was the need to replace the physical verification of new subscribers with something as secure but faster and easier.

Moreover, Omantel customers can use the app and learn about the new offers and packages. In addition, it provides a simple and convenient feature of online purchase of Omantel partners’ products such as Apple iTunes, Sony PlayStation, and Microsoft, in addition to 10 other available products, with a plan to add more. It should be noted that the app contains approximately 20 value services added in the entertainment section, which can be directly activated through the app.
